Mycosymbiosis through innovative industry
Who is Fallen Oak Mycology and what do we do?
Fallen Oak Mycology is an Austin, Texas based company specializing in the production of culinary and medicinal mushrooms as well as the manufacture of mushroom growing materials for cultivators and companies alike.
We produce high-quality products including liquid cultures and mushroom substrates for personal mushroom cultivation as well as our mushroom coffee products.

Our production waste is sold as a “living mulch” to vegetable farmers, gardeners and anyone who is seeking to improve their soil health by introducing a “sledge hammer species” like pleurotus ostreatus (oyster mushrooms) and the like.Living mulch is also the necessary elements needed in order to acquire grants for carbon sequestration projects.
Our Beliefs
Fallen Oak Mycology was started by Josh Googins, founder and CEO of Googins Biotech LLC as the first step in a broad mission for regenerating the human condition and that of the planet. A mission to improve human life by providing alternatives to meat through ecologically intelligent modes of cultivation. A mission to utilize waste streams for the benefit of society and our ecosystems through mycoremediation, mycofiltration, and by healing our minds and bodies in a safe and controlled way. Our mission remains at the core of everything we do:
We exist to improve lives naturally.
Demand for specialty mushrooms is rapidly rising, as consumers look to purchase more foods that are healthy, nutritious, and medicinal.
Our Method
Along with a ribbon mixer for the manufacture of all weights of grow blocks, we have also acquired a specialized substrate bagger. It makes thousands of mushroom bags per hour so we can produce thousands of mushroom blocks every day at a much lower cost than most U.S. manufacturers. It is the most efficient and cost effective method for growing exotic mushrooms in the world.
“To ward off pathogens, fungi have developed an arsenal of antibacterial and antiviral compounds — a resource that traditional peoples harnessed in the form of mushroom teas and foodstuffs.”
